I've made a little page with a brief summary of the most important of each character's abilities, to make sure everyone has a good idea of what their options are.
To speed things up during combat, I'm instituting a 30-second rule; if it's your turn, you have 30 seconds to acknowledge that you're there, otherwise you get delayed until after the next combatant. You don't have to make your decision that quickly, just let us all know that you're not idle. This may sound harsh but 1) 30 seconds is a lot longer than you think, and 2) delaying your action is not all that severe a penalty - you'll get your action in anyway.
After some deliberation I've decided that you can't multiclass during the adventure. 1) It'll just make things more complicated for both you and me, and I'm already trying my best to keep them non-complicated; 2) It doesn't make any in-game sense. Once you guys are victorious (ha ha), you can go to a town, find a mentor in the class of your dreams, and multiclass for any further adventures.
You each have 5 one-use-only Action Points, which can be used for all sorts of stuff (see the link), but most usefully can be used to add 1d6 to any d20 roll (after you roll it but before I tell you if it succeeded). You'll get more each time you level up.
Please enjoy this short summary of each character's abilities (as of level 1)!
Action points as of the end of session 6: Markan 11, Q 8, Plot 7, Bort 7, Zander 5.
Session 1A on January 13th 2007: Plot is brought to the brink of a nasty head-squeezing end but Q hammers the darkmantle to death and Plot is barely revived by Markan's healing powers. On the way out they notice that the ogre is gone! Experience: darkmantle (60 XP)
Session 2 on January 20th 2007: Continuing past the darkmantle passage into a room with a ceiling so low they have to crawl, they find a treasure chest guarded by animated wooden dolls, who pummel Q good until Plot and Zander manage to vanquish them with flaming oil. The last passage brings them to a cavern where the ogre has fallen to its death, and with Q bravely leading the way they kill 3, make that 6, slightly creepy fire beetles. That leaves the hole in the ceiling of the giant cavern, which Bort climbs up to to find four kobolds. The kobolds notice Plot as he arrives, leading to a pitched battle in which (so far) Bort is badly injured and Markan casts Obscuring Mist to thwart the kobold crossbowmen. Experience: dolls (120 XP), fire beetles (120 XP). Treasure: 500 gp, six gems, and three scrolls (from the chest).
Session 3 on February 11th 2007: The party finishes off three of the kobolds in the passageway but one escapes. After resting, they press on to find a large cavern with a swiftly-flowing river bisecting it. Plot crosses it but is immediately beseiged by dire rats, and when the others cross to come to his aid, they are attacked by a monstrous centipede. Just as they have defeated all their enemies, eight more kobolds charge in! Bort picks off a couple with some precise shooting, Zander color sprays a couple, and when Markan's patented Obscuring Mist has cleared, six kobolds are dead and two more have fled. Following the kobolds, they find a fire pit in a cave, and just past that... find out next session! Experience: kobolds (45 XP), pitched battle with 4 dire rats, a monstrous centipede, and lots of kobolds (200 XP). Treasure: 9 gold pendants from defeated kobolds.
Session 4 on February 25th 2007: Injured, depleted of spells, and surprised, the party nevertheless manages to overcome a nasty kobold sorcerer armed with a wand of magic missile plus his minions. Experience: kobolds + sorcerer (210 XP). Treasure: 7 more gold pendants, wand of magic missile, bracers of armor, pearl of power.
Session 5 on March 31st 2007: The party heads back to town, collects their rewards, and heals up. Returning to the caves, they find that they have cleared them out, but a raft and an underground stream point the way to further adventure! Which they quickly find, as they defeat a big nasty spider that has set up camp above the stream. Experience: spider (120 XP).
Session 6 on April 22st 2007: Emerging from the stream into a large underground lake, the party is ambushed by some kobold snipers, but are able to take them out by frantically poling over to the snipers' ledge in time for Zander to Color Spray all but one of them. Clambering up on to the ledge and chasing the remaining sniper, they travel up a long corridor made of strange rock before encountering their biggest challenge yet, a group of a dozen kobolds. Plot charges ahead, and with another Color Spray and a well-timed Obscuring Mist from Markan, they're able to take out all the melee-enabled kobolds, but when Q steps out of the Mist to see what's up with the crossbow-wielding ones, she is felled by a coordinated attack. Out of spells and with their best fighter down, the party quickly pulls Q backand frantically retreats. Experience: Lots of kobolds (180 XP). Treasure: 3 more gold pendants.
Next session is Saturday May 12 from 12-5pm mud time (Eastern).
